THE CHALLENGE

VAG decided years ago to outsource the collection of receivables. On the one hand, the goal was to streamline and optimise internal processes and structures while at the same time optimising revenue in debt collection. On the other hand, the legal support provided by industry-specific expert know-how in receivables-related legal issues was the criterion for outsourcing.

SOLUTION BY KSP

Since 2016, KSP has been working successfully with VAG as a legal debt collection service provider in a partnership and solution-oriented manner. The tasks taken on by KSP include in particular:

an extrajudicial and judicial collection of non-performing subscription claims for tickets and the assertion and collection of increased transport charges;
supporting and advising VAG in legal matters and in the joint optimisation of process flows as a result of changes in the general conditions.

The Freiburger Verkehrs AG (VAG) has been organising and operating local public transport in and for the city of Freiburg since 1901. It is a company in the Stadtwerke Freiburg GmbH network, which is owned by the city of Freiburg.

In hardly any other German city is public transport used more in relation to the size of the population than in the Breisgau metropolis: more than 80 million passengers a year mean that every inhabitant of the city - statistically speaking - makes one journey a day by public transport. For several years now, VAG has been using all its expertise to expand its portfolio with more of its own products as well as through cooperation and networking with other mobiIity providers. The very successful development and integration of the bicycle rental system "Frelo" was a first active expansion of the product range on this path towards a digital multimodal mobility service provider.
